Mary Mattheyer - Teacher

I earned my American Montessori Society Elementary I and II Credentials in 2001 from the Houston Montessori Center in Houston, Texas. I earned my BA in Human Learning and Development from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas. I went on to earn my M. Ed. with a specialization in Reading from Texas Wesleyan as well. I also attended Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth for three semesters. I currently hold a Texas Teaching License in the following areas:

Classroom Teacher-English as a Second Language (Grades EC12)
Reading Specialist (Grades EC-12)
Elementary Self-Contained and Elementary Reading (Grades 1-8)

In New Mexico I hold a Level Three-A Instructional Leader K-8 Elementary License with Endorsement in Reading and TESOL and a Level Three-A Instructional Leader Pre K-12 Specialty Area License with Endorsement in Reading and TESOL.

I began teaching in a public Montessori K-8 school in Fort Worth, Texas in 1999. After 3 years, I moved to another public Montessori K-8 school in Fort Worth. I was also a teacher at a private Montessori school in downtown Fort Worth teaching 2-10 year olds. I moved to Albuquerque in March of 2007 and was fortunate to discover Montessori Rio Grande Charter and to be called by Ms. Bonnie to teach Kindergarteners last year. Those children were a joy and a blessing to me. This year, I am again fortunate to be teaching 9-12 year olds with Mr. Dan. During my off-time, I enjoy spending almost every minute with my three-year-old daughter Mary Helen. I love the mountains too. In fact, I have wanted to move to New Mexico for a very long time. My family used to spend summers vacationing at Red River and my time in the mountains is one of my fondest childhood memories.
