MRGC Alumni

Welcome to your page!!

This space is reserved especially for our former families of Montessori of the Rio Grande and Montessori of the Rio Grande Charter School.  Please use this as a means to catch up with classmates, families, and teachers at the school.

We also welcome you to stop by and see all the transformations.  Ms. Marie and Mr. Leon are now able to enjoy time with their family and friends.  They have leased the entire building to MRGC.  We currently have two Kindergarten classes, two Grade One to Three classrooms, and two Grade Four/Five classes.

We have a Wellness Program that incorporates taking care of the body and mind via Yoga and other activities.  Nutrition classes are also a component of this and include working out in our vegetable garden!  Ms. Kim teaches Nutrition and Cooking, which uses some of the products that children have grown and tended to.

Ms. Jin is with us and works with all classes on developing Art skills.  This month, she and Ms. Sarah-our Peacepal Coordinator, have created a “Mosaic of Peace”. All children have painted tiles and have been glued onto a huge display board.  Stop by and see this amazing quilt of creativity.

There are many exciting things going on at MRGC.  If you would like to come by and give back to your MRGC community, we ask that you:

1. Stop by the office and sign the “Alumni Visitors” book
2. Read the Guidelines for Visiting, as posted in this book
3. Take a reflection sheet with you and fill it out while on your visit

Think about something that you would like to share with the school that would be meaningful and would be your contribution of giving back!  The visit should be no longer than two hours. Presentations could be done in one or all classrooms.

Please rsvp Miss Debbie at msdebbie@mrgcharter.org so that we can ensure your visit will be acknowledged as part of the routine that day.

Thank you so much, and we encourage you to send us a few lines about your experience at MRGC and we will be happy to post it here. We love photos, too.

Kind Regards, Miss Debbie

Testimony by Emile Sfakianos

Montessori helped me with math especially.  I took a
test when I started 6th grade and I scored high enough
to start 7th grade math.  Montessori helped me with
leadership skills.  I was nominated by a teacher at my
middle school to go to Washington D.C. for the Junior
National Young leader Conference.  I will be attending
it from April 5th through 10th this year.  Montessori
helped me with geography and social studies.  I passed
a test to enter my middle school’s geography bee.  I
have an A+ in Social Studies.  I highly recommend
MRGC.  Their methods really help and the staff is
awesome.  My fondest memory of Montessori learning was
using the Test Tubes.  The checker board helps with
long division.  At first it seems like it doesn’t help
but then a year later you can do long division like
nothing!
